A Review, of Sorts.

Waking up early to go to work on a Sunday is never a pleasant way to start the day, but early this morning I looked at Facebook with my iPhone from the toilet (yes, this is one of the things that make iPhones so incredibly useful), and saw that a friend called Joel Connell posted a thing on his wall. In my barely awake state I only saw that he'd written, "Fuck You", and that my name was in the link to a note that he'd written. It was a way to wake me up, for sure. But when I clicked through to read what he'd written in the notes section of his Facebook page, I squeeeeed with delight. This is one of the reasons I do what I do.

For your reading pleasure, I submit Joel's post, unedited and in it's full glory:

Fuck You
got yer attention? okay, good. now, a couple of weeks ago sarah and myself put up a link to a book by a friend of ours, one Mr. Tim Kress. the name of that book is "Early Mourning". we ran into tim a little while ago and he had some copies with him for sale, so we didn't have to do the interweb thingie, plus we got the book autographed, which was cool. here's the crux of what i want to tell you about this book: it sits on our shelf next to rudyard kipling, hunter s. thompson, lewis carroll, richard bach, and the like. it DESERVES to be there. this is not some weak sister book written by some guy that is from the area, and so you feel that weird pressure to maybe look at it or say "good work" and then never think about it again. (you all are aware of what i'm talking about) this isn't a book that you flip through to be nice. this is the real thing, all meat and potatoes literature. in short, it's one fuck of a yarn. i put this diamond in the rough in the same category as early (tee hee) neil gaiman.don't do some local guy a favor and buy this book,do yourself a solid and buy this book, buy it for your poor grandma, she misses you. and although i haven't had the pleasure to hear the soundtrack that goes along with the book, i bet it kicks serious ass.don't give some bullshit lip service to the local art scene and then give a  lukewarm "meh" to this. find the fucking link on my links thing and get the god- damn book already, cause if you go out and buy some national author first, then you have forgotten the face of your father.
you're welcome.
My whole life I have surrounded myself with great artists, and Joel is no exception. Without a doubt, he's the best illustrator I've ever met. I encourage you to look at his work on his deviatart profile.

Thank you, Joel.
